Teacher's Aide

Chris Barett

I am a graduate of the University of Toledo with a degree in Elementary Education with a specialization in Early Childhood Education. Upon graduating, I moved to the East coast where I was a substitute teacher and then sold School supplies for J. L. Hammett. My customers were private and parochial schools in Connecticut and Western Massachusetts.

I met my husband of 22 years while living in Connecticut. God kept me on the East coast long enough to meet Jeff and then brought us to Illinois just before the birth of our first child. Motherhood became my new vocation and God has blessed us with four daughters. Our oldest is going off to college. We have a daughter who attends Rosary high school and our youngest two are here at Holy Cross. Praise God!

Along with being a mother, God has called me to serve him in various ministries in our parish. I was a Catechist for 8 years, co-chair of the Welcome Coffee Committee, co-founder of the Holy Cross Library, a Hesed House volunteer, Batavia Interfaith Food Pantry volunteer, and my favorite, an Extraordinary Minister of the Holy Eucharist.

I have worked in our preschool in various capacities since it opened. For two years, I taught the two year old class and two years as a preschool aide. Last year, I was a teacher's aide in the Fifth Grade classroom.

This school year, our Lord has given me the privilege of working along with all of our classroom teachers in helping the Kindergarten through Eighth Grade students of Holy Cross Catholic School. I am really looking forward to serving the academic needs of the children that he has entrusted to us.
