First let me tell you how very happy I am to be a part of the Holy Cross faculty. I am very excited for the upcoming school year and meeting all my new students and parents. With that said, I will be teaching Science to all the junior high grades as well as sixth grade Literature.
I was a junior high Math and Science teacher at St. Mary’s School DeKalb for the past two years. Although I loved St. Mary’s, I live in Montgomery and it was a long commute each day. My drive to Holy Cross will be half the distance, which means a later start time for me in the mornings!!!
I have a busy curriculum planned for our Science classes this year. Some special events to look forward to: 6th graders will be building an aquifer, 7th graders will be dissecting frogs, and 8th graders will be launching bottle rockets. Each grade will also be completing a Problem Based Learning(PBL) project which parents will be able to see at during the third quarter.
I am looking forward to teaching Literature this year. I have spent the summer reading all the novels we will be using this year and have picked my favorite story. If you can tell during the year which story this is you earn a prize at the end of the year!!!!
I am a Member of Our Lady of Good Counsel Parish, I have a daughter who attends Aurora Central Catholic High School, another daughter who works at St. Peter’s School Aurora, doing their after school program and attending Waubonsee Community College, and my husband, Peter, is a Special Education teacher, teaching History at East Aurora High School. Pete also coaches football at Aurora Central Catholic High School and Bowling at East Aurora High School.
In my free time I like to read, do craft projects with beads, and attend ACC’s football and basketball games. I am an alumnus of ACC and have missed very few home games.
I guess that's a pretty good idea of who I am and where I am coming from. I am grateful every day for the ability to teach, for my wonderful family, and for a life full of Faith, Hope, and Love. Thank you God!!!!
