6th Grade - Biegalski

Kathy Biegalski

I grew up in Mt. Prospect and lived in the northwest suburbs most of my life.  I attended St. Norbert College where I received a bachelor's degree in elementary education.  I began my teaching career at St. Colette School in Rolling Meadows.  I taught there for three years.  I then taught in district 59 in Elk Grove while I began to work on my master's degree.  I took a break from teaching to raise my family.  I continued my education and completed my master's degree in reading education at Northern Illinois University.

My own children attended St. Theresa School in Palatine where I began to help out as a substitute teacher.  Eventually I went back to teaching full time and taught there for 6 years.  Around that time a new school was in the plans near my home through Holy Family Church in Inverness.  When they opened up their fourth grade, I began to teach there.  It was very exciting to help develop a curriculum for this new school.  I taught at Holy Family for three years.  I left this teaching position because we moved to North Aurora.  I substituted for six school districts, St. Patrick's in St. Charles and here at Holy Cross last year.  I feel most blessed to be a part of the faculty this year at Holy Cross.  I have found that it is important for me to teach in a school that reflects the same values that we have at home.  It was the reason I chose Catholic education for my own children.

I have six children ages 13 - 22.  We love to bike ride, barbeque, sit around a campfire at night, and have family movie night.  My own hobbies include sewing, needlepoint, playing the piano, researching family genealogy, and learning as much as I can about American history.  (My husband and I love to go to battle reenactments.)

I am most grateful to be a part of this faith community and I truly look forward to the coming school year.
