which parted and came to rest on each one of them.
And they were all filled with the holy Spirit. Acts 2:1a, 3,4a

Coming Soon...
Mother-Son Event: Coming in May. More details very soon.

Dear school families,
First of all I want to let you know how much I have enjoyed Holy Cross over the past month and a half. My move took me by surprise and Lent is such a busy time to transition into a new parish. In so many ways, transitions are difficult. You have all been very gracious and welcoming so I thank you for that. Now a month and a half into the move I am pleased to say that I am very much at peace and very grateful to be your pastor.
Earlier this week a priest friend of mine came to visit from Minnesota and we had a few opportunities to sit and talk about our parishes and priesthood. I think I dominated the conversation telling him about the numerous joys I have experienced over the past month and a half at Holy Cross. I have especially loved entering into the daily life of Holy Cross Catholic School. I am deeply impressed by the faculty and staff here. I sincerely hope you know how blessed you are by the dedication, love and commitment of those caring for your children at HCCS. As I come here with “new eyes” and take in all that happens each day I can see God at work in beautiful ways.
Though my days are filled with many different activities, one of the main highlights has been the time I’ve been able to interact with all the students at HCCS. Though I still do not have all your children’s names memorized, I can honestly say that God has blessed me through each and every one of them already. There is a very healthy and positive spirit among the students. From the preschool and kindergarten to the eighth grade, I can see that the students truly love HCCS. And I am already very grateful I get to be a part of their lives here. So thank you for your commitment to our parish school.
On an administrative note I want to mention a few things.
First, I have had several conversations already about the need to add classrooms over the next four years to accommodate our growing school. This is a wonderful challenge we face and I know God has the perfect plan. We need four new classrooms over the next four years. To me, the biggest challenge we face is making good short term decisions that also are the smartest long term decisions. I hope we can expand the school in such a way that it will meet our needs for decades to come. I do not know the best long term direction to take yet but I write to ask for both your prayers and your support. It’s hard to add on to a school while we still are trying to pay off our debt. But, once again, I know God has a perfect plan. Our goal must be to discern that plan.
We must also provide for the immediate needs we have. One need is the development of our use of technology in teaching. This is a technological culture which is developing rapidly each and every day. If we are to properly prepare your children to enter into the technological culture we live in we need to keep adding to our resources with which we teach them. Learning how to use technology well is something I've personally taken a great interest in. I especially believe we need to use technology for the mission of the Church. Youth need to learn how best to use technology in both a safe and productive way.
Over the summer we will most likely be purchasing some new computers for student use called Chromebooks. At my last school we purchased about 100 of these and the teachers and students love them. They have proven to be very helpful in the classroom and provide a safer way for children to use the Internet.
Lastly, I want to invite your participation in a fundraiser that will help fund our technology goals. This weekend the Home and School Association will be selling Holy Cross checkbooks for $30. This is an ideal fundraiser because it can easily raise $10,000 for technology at HCCS and actually save you money. Each $30 checkbook contains about $300 in checks for you to use. I already bought one of them and plan on purchasing two more. By buying three of these for a total of $90 I know I will easily use at least $147 of these checks (for three oil changes, three haircuts, and thee dinners out). That’s a net savings of $57.
I look forward to many years with you all at Holy Cross and am grateful to God for being your pastor.
God bless,
Msgr. Aaron Brodeski

Dear school families,
Our school was blessed today (May 7th) with a visit of Bishop Malloy. He celebrated Mass with all the 8th grade classes of the Aurora Deanery and then stopped by to visit and bless the kids in the lunch room, the playground and several of the classrooms. The 1st graders were excited to show him their newly hatched baby chickens and the 2nd graders were excited because he came to bless their 1st Communion articles. I didn't think to take a picture of him with the kids on the playground (I wish I would have because it was quite cute), but I did take some pictures of him with the 1st and 2nd grade. God bless, Msgr.
