About CRECHE

CRECHE was established in 1999 by a small group of Catholic homeschooling families to help support the efforts of parents as primary educators, to teach their children at home. We've not only grown in numbers, but have also grown in our Catholic faith, realizing that we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us. Faithful to the Catholic Magesterium guided by the Pope and the bishops in union with him, we unabashedly promote homeschooling as an intellectually and spiritually rewarding alternative to traditional educational methods. Open to homeschooling or non-homeschooling families in the Fox Valley/western suburbs of Chicago, CRECHE provides activities that encourage friendship and vibrant family life, striving to help members grow as disciples, bringing Christ to the world.

CRECHE meets the first and third Fridays of each month, September through May, at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Batavia from 9:30 a.m. until Noon.

The first Friday meetings are “Club Fridays”. We meet downstairs in Donovan Hall. We begin as a group with the prayer of St. Francis, then the clubs meet, and we conclude at Noon with the Angelus. There are 2 sessions of clubs being offered, one from 9:35 - 10:35, and another from 10:45 - 11:45. We have clubs for each age group at each time. This year's clubs include Tae Kwon Do, Beginning and Intermediate Tap and Ballet, Drama (Nativity Play in the Fall, Stations of the Cross in the Spring), Art, Photography, Games, St. Francis Science Club, Skit and Music Club, Burial Cloth Art, and Minute to Win It.

The third Friday meetings are “Saint Fridays”. We begin with Mass in the church at 9:30 a.m. After Mass, we proceed downstairs to Donovan Hall for a snack and age appropriate group activities. We conclude at Noon with the Angelus.

On second or fourth Fridays, CRECHE offers field trips. This year’s field trips include Big Run Wolf Ranch, The Field Museum, The Legend of Pocahontas, The WVHS Planetarium, The Flagsource Enterprise, Feed My Starving Children, Our Lady of Sorrows Shrine, The Max McGraw Wildlife Foundation, and the Danada Equestrian Club.

CRECHE High School Teens have social gatherings offered throughout the year.

For adults, CRECHE offers Parent Meetings, Mom’s Night Out, and a Mom's Book Study. This year’s book study is Graced and Gifted by Kimberly Hahn.

CRECHE strives to offer a variety of activities to meet the needs of your family. Remember that CRECHE is here to support you in your Catholic homeschooling efforts. We encourage our members to pick and choose which activities are right for their family.

May God bless you on your homeschooling journey!
